Center for Orthopaedics Named Sports Medicine Provider for Cameron Parish Schools

The Cameron Parish School Board has chosen Center for Orthopaedics (CFO) as the exclusive provider of athletic trainers for their student athletes. The decision was announced at the Board’s August, 2012 meeting. CFO will provide physician and athletic trainer coverage for Cameron Parish high school athletic events. The staff will also work with the school’s coaches and student trainers on injury prevention and concussion protocols. In addition, Cameron Parish athletes will have access to Saturday morning sports clinics and a wide variety of educational opportunities throughout the year. Cameron Parish athletes will now receive the same quality care as McNeese athletes, according to Dr. Geoffrey Collins, CFO’s high school athletic program medical director.
Center for Orthopaedics is the region’s largest musculoskeletal group and offers the area’s most comprehensive, experienced sports medicine care. The group was founded 18 years ago and has offices in Lake Charles, Sulphur and DeRidder. CFO has 12 doctors on staff, including seven orthopaedic surgeons, two physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists, two foot & ankle specialists and one hand & wrist specialist. In addition, the group offers the services of certified athletic trainers and licensed physical therapists to the athletes they serve.
